For personal reasons I have listened to a variety of podcasts. One of my favourite is, "Stuff you missed in history class" (podcast HERE). It is a discussion about interesting facts from the past and students could easily model to produce one of their own from facts learnt in class.
Vidcasts are good for tutorials and I have shown a number of these to my students. I found them particularly useful in upskilling my students for 1:1 iPad use in the classroom. I find Paul Hamilton's tutorials very useful on the use of technology in the classroom. (link HERE). Although I believe it is best for students to find their own way with many of the apps, a quick basic run through on some of the 'how to' certainly goes a long way in eliminating many of the questions.
From the links, I particularly like the 'Storynory' (HERE) website. I think my students could easily create an audio story around a Bounce Back theme, such as the one linked above on 'friendships'. It would be helpful with creativity, listening skills and a unique platform for presentation. I could envisage them using someting along the lines of the 'Explain Everything' app, where they could include their voice recordings along with some visual imaging.
Animoto is a great tool for quick, easy results. Personally, I prefer to use iMovie as there is more room for students to get creative. However, for a quick stimulating presentation that would grab students attention it could prove handy. Here is video I made with Animoto on the Bounce Back theme of 'Resilience'. The images contained are stock imaging from 123RF app.
Helen, your blog looks fantastic! I like the way you have added links into your posts and may try that in my next post. Unfortunately I am unable to watch your Resilience Animoto. However, I think it is a really nice idea, my own Animoto focused on the Bounce Back theme of 'Emotions' (specifically Anger). I also like that you have used "Labels" throughout your blog (another thing to add to my list of things to try).
ReplyDeleteKeep blogging, I am enjoying what you have to say. :)
